“Tube strike on Boxing Day “– What Happened to the Christmas Spirit?!

On this year’s Boxing Day, a very special Christmas present was delivered by the British Rail: a wonderfully planned tube strike to claim for triple pay and an extra day off work in compensation for working on December 26th.

So what’s happened to the Christmas spirit, the spirit of mutual help and contentment?

Never before did retailers feel the crisis and lack of consumer spending on the high street so deeply at Christmas time; never before did retailers need shoppers to walk through their doors on the Boxing Day sales. And never before did train drivers strike on one of the most crucial days for British retailers…
